When a crash is unavoidable, I always let my passengers know we’re about to die.
There was a really cool episode of I Survived that kinda answered this. The pilot knew they were going to crash. So the stewardesses instructed on what everyone needed to do and what the situation was. A lot of people survived, but a lot of babies/toddlers died because the parents were instructed to put the “lap children” on the floor.
What do you call an unavoidable crash ?
– A hard landing (non working landing gear, failling engine and so on). Yes, that’s why you get the famous brace position which will save life
– A real crash : In that case people in the cockpit don’t get what’s happening until the impact (Read some crash report to see what’s happening, sometimes even the pilot doesn’t know they are about to crash)
