Do you think video games should be discussed in school just like books and movies are? What games would be interesting to interpret or discuss as pieces of art and why?

Dude Xenoblade or Persona 5. For plot stuff, if I got media studies for Persona 5 I’d be very happy.

Oh, definitely. Especially as we head into a gaming renaissance (I cannot wait for video games to get what television had in the golden era 2000s, ie HBO-level prestige shit).

Individual games should be studied, but I’m especially interested in looking at broader industry trends and tropes across time.

For me if we’re going to treat games like art then we need to define what makes games artistic as a medium.

And for me thats about experience and player driven narritive. Games like Stories, Or Alpha Protocol. Games where the player defines the experience and isn’t just led hand held through an amusement park ride.

Ya it would actually be fun to make a club of game trivia
