Domande di Internet

Employers/Inteviewers of Internet, why do you ask the “So why are you interested in this job?” to people interviewing for basic jobs like a pizza delivery driver or a receptionist?

The purpose is to differentiate candidates.

It’s a simple and expected question so the answers are expected to be thought out. They know the real answer is “to make money” but you could make money doing other things, why this?

You need to see how they respond to see their thought process on what motivates them, drives them to seek out the job etc.

I managed three pizza shops for 10 years, hired, trained, and fired a lot of people. I am very good at evaluating, training and staffing crews. Rotating people to where they work best, motivating them, knowing when it is ok to have fun, goof off.

Yeah, GODDAMNIT, this has always baffled me. Who the fuck is actually interested in a shit job? I really hope you get some responses. I really want to hear why these people pretend an applicant should be interested and why they want to be lied to.

Because it’s on the print out with the other questions that corporate wants us to ask.

I’m a hiring manager for a job that would get very high turnover in the first month if I didn’t screen properly. It’s hard work, and the customers can be a lot. You can get more pay for an easier job elsewhere (not my fault, the company sets starting pay).

If they say “uh, I need a job.” Yep, Target starts at $15/hr. Good luck. If they say they respect the company and the work it does in the community, that they really want the benefits package, that they want a job where everyone wants to work there, that they see themselves moving up in the company…. that’s better. Now I’m slightly more convinced that you won’t no call/no show on the 3rd day of training.
