[Serious]What do you hate most about the school system, and what could they do in your eyes to be better?

School starts so early. Research has shown that students perform better when school starts later than 8 AM. There is so much research to show it, but schools never do anything about it.

I have a friend who is a public high school teacher, and she was telling me they are not allowed to fail students or give them 0s if they don’t turn something in. She has to keep extending the due date and can only give them as low as a 50.
It’s not that she enjoys failing people, she just feels that they need to be held accountable for their mistakes. Accountability is an important part of personal growth

I’m assuming you’re talking about the American school system, as MassimoL is very America-centric

Fine by me, I’m American

School funding being tied to property taxes. Poorer areas get less money. Less qualified or fewer teachers, fewer extracurriculars, generally not-as-good education. Therefore, jobs that
pay less, live in a poorer area, have kids that go to a poorer school.

We talk about kids “breaking the cycle.” As if the cycle is some mystical force beyond human reason. Sure there are other factors like drug and alcohol abuse (especially in the womb), less at-home education, etc. but the statement could be made that school funding being determined by property tax literally is the cycle.

Teachers don’t teach, they test.

Saying there’s a zero bullying tolerance and then when someone gets bullied they tolerate it
