The George Carlin quote: “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that.” in your experience, how true or false have you found this to be?

George Carlin made this comment as a comedian and like the best comedians, was a good observer of people. And this quote is often cited at times of elections.

Whether this is true or not, by asking the question in this way, you are asking people to judge others negatively. Most response here would assume that they are the clever ones and everyone else they’ve come across is stupid.

Interestingly the way democratic voting works, the vote of the stupid person counts just as much the clever person. No more, no less

I’ve spent about a decade or so in hospitality and retail. George was underestimating the numbers

Look at the elections. The headlines are better than half of what you’d find in absurdist humour books.

“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” -Mencken

True. Look at the number of people voting trump.
