For those who quit smoking, how did you do it, any tips for someone who is 7 days clear?

If you get bored make a spreadsheet showing how much money you’re saving not smoking. This only works if you’re a tight wad like me.

Nicorette gum legitimately helped me kick the habit. Full disclosure – the first 4-6 weeks of switching to the gum (and really quitting in general) are fucking awful. I had stomach issues, couldn’t sleep, felt like I had the flu at times. But one day I just got better.

The biggest downside to Nicorette IMO is the cost. I don’t know where you are, but a wholesaler such as Costco or Sam’s club sells the same stuff for virtually 50% less than what you’d pay at the drug store. My point being, shop around for the gum you like if you decide to go this route. A good healthcare plan will help you subsidize some of the cost of smoking cessation treatments as well.

I also used CBD products in conjunction with Nicorette. That helped address some of the edginess and anxiety brought on by not being able to get my nicotine fix.

Also: Exercise, exercise, exercise.

Everyone has their own way of doing it and no two journeys will be the same, so be very patient and forgiving of yourself. I won’t lie and say that I haven’t relapsed a bit during quarantine, but having gone through that process I know which tools really work for me.

The moment you think you can take it or leave it, you’re most vulnerable to restarting. It doesn’t matter if it’s a week, a month or a year, tell yourself you can have just one and you’re screwed.

The first week for me was the hardest every day after that got easier for me.

I used an e-cig since all I ever wanted was a few drags. I’d smoke a whole real cig just so I didn’t waste it. Using g the e-cig it was easier to taper down then quit completely.
