Ed ecco le risposte:

Your habit will lay back in the tall grass and ambush you when your guard is down. It’ll say, ‘Wow, you’ve really proven that you can quit. You can have just one now and it won’t be a big deal.’

Don’t listen to that shit. Your habit is actually a part of your own brain and it knows how you think. It realizes you are serious about quitting so it sits back like this and waits for these times to hit you with this shit.

Your task now is to get past these moments. These moments are when your habit is at its most desperate. So, every time you win in that moment, you are pounding a huge nail into the coffin of your addiction.

And remember this- one cigarette. One puff. It’s over. You will need to start again. Any little sudden urge will pass if you just accept it and let it run its course. You don’t need to smoke for that sudden urge to go away. It will go away even if you don’t smoke. Just train yourself to not do it every time. And every time you do, that urge will be a little weaker the next time.

You can do this.

They say 21 days and you can stop doing anything.

Take it a day at a time. You’ve gone 7 days, push yourself to 10. Then to 15. Then 21. Then you should be clear

A mental trick was helpful for me. I wasn’t a smoker who was quitting. I wasn’t an ex-smoker. I was now a non-smoker. When cravings or triggers came up I’d respond to them as a non-smoker would. It kept me in the present and focused on the most important decision – the next one. The more I chose to be a non-smoker, the more I believed it and the easier it got. I hope that helps, good luck!

My mom tried quitting smoking many a time. She’d always get back into it when hanging around her smoker friends. She died from lung cancer 3 years ago. Sorry to say, but drop all of your friends who smoke, at least for now.

Get yourself into the mindset that instead of thinking “I need a cigarette” you think “I want a cigarette”.

You don’t need them, you only want them. You can resist a want.
