Ceiling fans usually can circulate two ways, moving air upwards or downwards. I know this. I've known this for awhile. I spent the Summer wondering why my room was so stuffy even with my window open and my ceiling fan on. I moved a box fan in but the noise kept me awake. Finally tonight, I lay awake on a beautiful 65 (F, 18.3 C) degree night, sweating in bed feeling like I'm suffocating with no air movement. I researched replacing the fan blades. Then I decided to just try flipping the rotation direction.
Instantly, cool air starting moving around the room and down toward the bed. What a difference!
