When I was younger my parents made me and my brother learn code words. I can’t tell you how many times I got out of hanging out with friends by these code words. Example: some of my friends wanted to hang out after school and for whatever reason I didn’t want to, so I’d text my parents “hey can I go hang out at friends house. Also thanks for the cookie in my lunch today it was really good” cookie being the code word and they’d say “hey no you need to come home and do chores today” and I could show my friends the text so I didn’t feel bad about saying I didn’t want to hang out. I used this from 6th grade to senior year of high school and it saved me many times and I’m so grateful for it.
