Domande di Internet

Lawyers of Internet, 16-17 year old teenagers can get taxed, but can’t vote. Why is this not considered taxation without representation?

With GST (or value added tax) anyone of ANY age who purchases anything is taxed. No difference really.

Same reason people in Washington DC have no representation in Congress, America is not a democracy.

6yrs old kid buys an icecream and gets taxed so….

All minors unless emancipated would fall under someone’s care. They are represented by them.

And it’s not even a law that you need representation to be taxed.
Sales tax applies to everything. Do foreign tourists and toddler buying gum get exempted from sales tax?

16 year olds dont call the cops? or the fire Department? Health care programs? Public schools? list goes on…
