What weird stunt did your MIL pull when you got married?

Bentornati ad un’altra incredibile edizione delle domande di cultura generale!

Questa volta abbiamo cercato una domanda rivolta alle donne. What weird stunt did your MIL pull when you got married?

Ed ecco le risposte del genere femminile:

Had to be centre stage in every photo, which cut into my bridal portraits (which I didn’t get done because she had to have her portraits taken).

But best of all, at dinner she dumped a glass of red wine all down the front of my beautiful custom wedding dress. It’s been 5 years and I still don’t forgive her.

Edit: Got locked, don’t know why. To the person who asked what my partner did, he was absolutely stunned. I spent a good hour trying to get the stain out of my dress and he kept her away from me. She kept grabbing at me and crying saying we were best friends. We are not.

My SIL came out as a lesbian a year before my wedding. She asked if i could bring her girlfriend. I said yes. MIL said she wouldn’t come to wedding if the GF came. i said okay have a good one then.

My husband didnt like that. WHat incase they dont last he said? I really didnt care. She is a person and can come to MY wedding.

She officiated the wedding for us! And before the wedding, she took me wedding dress shopping and helped me with decorating for the wedding.

She’s such a wonderful woman, I’m so lucky I have her in my life.

Lol. She called me 2 days before the wedding and told me they (her and her 2 daughters) weren’t able to come because “her car wouldn’t be able to make the drive and they can’t afford plane tickets.” To think of my husband so upset when I told him still makes me angry to this day.

My MIL insisted that we hold our wedding reception at her home, then after bullying us until we agreed, she ripped out the lawn and had trees planted in the only area we could erect the tents. She then left on a trip to Australia and didn’t return until 2 days before the wedding. She rearranged everything and insisted that her doll house take centre stage at the reception. No that isn’t a typo. My 55 year old MIL decorated her doll house for our for our wedding and wanted to display it front and centre on the dining room table where the wedding cake was to be displayed. I ended up threatening to cancel the wedding and throw her doll house off the second floor landing if she didn’t back off.

My MIL “disappeared” from the vestibule and missed her cue to be escorted to her seat. She magically reappeared after my MOH walked, trotting up the aisle like a show pony before me, waving, kissing, and greeting everyone on their side. She probably took 5 minutes to get to her seat.

We eloped to avoid this kind of drama, then only had a small dinner party with family and some of our closest friends. My MIL invited people I had never even met.

Hijacked the wedding photos, held my husband up getting a shit ton of family photos done with our second photographer while the primary photographer and I waited at another part of the venue for my husband to appear, we ended up missing out on a lot due to time.

When we went to the reception, she turned up like an hour after everyone else because she went to change out of her mother of the groom dress and came back in jeans and a polo shirt. She didn’t tell anyone and took my husbands sister with her. We had no idea what happened to them.

She also asked for my wedding shoes while I was still fucking wearing them. They stayed at our house for the night and took it upon themselves to do some gardening with my equipment too.

It was not an especially happy day, more like a family function i felt obligated to attend in the end.

Interrupted our first dance.

Tried to go around me to redo our schedule.

Insulted our officiant before the ceremony started.

Stole a screenshot of my officiant, husband and I and reposted it to her Facebook???

ETA:…..our anniversary was 3 days ago and she reposted it. And tagged our officiant. But not me.

I have a story on behalf of my friend who’s MIL is in competition for being the absolute fucking worst. The wedding colors were white and gold. Easy, classy, timeless. MIL showed up in a lime green Vegas showgirl dress. I’m talking enormous sequins, a slit running up to mid-thigh lined with green tulle ruffles, the WHOLE 9 yards. And then she made a huge show of sobbing into the groom’s chest during the mother-son dance. She stood out like a glittery green zit in every single wedding photo AND, to top it off, the GMIL wore a white pantsuit to the wedding after being explicitly told not to. It was EXACTLY the shade of the bride’s dress. My friend kept it together through all of it and I’m glad she did cause you can absolutely tell who was acting like a classless asshole from the pics, and it wasn’t her.
