Domande di Internet

Why is it bad to be playing video games, watching videos, etc. for extended periods of time, but it’s fine to be online if we’re doing work?

It isn’t “fine” to be online for hours to be doing work, but it can be necessary.

work pays off

  1. It’s not ok for work either. Extended periods in front of a screen for any reason is bad.
  2. When working you are much more likely to frequently look away from the screen for short periods, movies and games you’re looking at it non-stop, usually for longer periods at a time.
  3. One is one of those sucky things that just has to be done, the other is optional (this goes for work too). It’s like being a bricklayer – Sure, there’s no reason that you can’t or shouldn’t spend every waking hour of your free time gardening or driving, but if you do you’re going to get arthritis quicker and probably to a worse degree.
  4. I have no idea what lego has to do anything. Lego isn’t on a screen, why would the same health impact apply? The only reason there is a recommended limit to online is the screen itself.

Its the same thing as watching a TV all night. It steals your time to get good at real things.

Because society says that working is good and not working is bad. In reality it’s up to you to decide what you think is good or bad, and you can spend your time however you want.
