Consiglio: If you have a choice of daycare days, don’t do Mondays.

Consiglio del giorno che ti può essere utile:

I'm not sure how many people are in a similar situation, but we learned the hard way.

My wife and I both work partly from home, partly on site. We could potentially schedule to cover for each other when we were at work, but you can't get much work from home done with a baby, so we needed to enroll her in daycare. Five days a week would be unaffordable and we didn't want to be away from the kiddo when we didn't have to so, we started at 2 days a week.

Unfortunately, we picked Mondays and Tuesday.

Where we live (and I believe most places) they charge at the beginning of the month based on days, but you still pay for days the center is closed, that's just to hold your regular “spot”. And guess which day of the week has a lot of holiday closures? Yep, Mondays.

We also noticed that whenever our kid got sick, it would tend to become symptomatic by the end of the weekend into Monday morning, meaning we had to keep her home a bunch of times for illness that she was totally over by the end of the week.

In the end, maybe a quarter of the days we paid for, we didn't get. And that shit is expensive.

We've now bumped up to 3 days a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And already starting on Labor Day we knew we had made the right choice.
