A new strain was detected over a single weekend in hundreds of cities all over the world, accompanied by a slew of new symptoms. Insomnia, autoimmune responses, total organ failure. The number of asymptomatic carriers tanked overnight, and the death toll rose to hundreds of millions. Governments collapsed and the remaining ones hastily imposed martial law.
Amidst the calamity, your little corner of this world is hit as hard as the rest. Supplies are hard to come by, and just finding the will to live is getting harder day by day. As you suffer, the only ray of light holding you back from the abyss is your girlfriend.
As soon as the apocalypse began, she instinctively recognized she had more to live for right now, than to die for in the past. She stifles her trauma and leads you and her loved ones into safety whenever possible. It seems like she really was cured of her PTSD.
But how will you ever be sure? How can you confirm that the shadows of her past aren’t clinging to her back still? Well, maybe that’s a question for a later time. As you stare upon the ruins of humanity, hand-in-hand, this unsure thought keeps skittling around in your mind.
