I’m from Puerto Rico. Here we have a pro-statehood party called the New Progressive Party
It’s the only mayor political party on the island that wants Puerto Rico to become the 51st state. It also happens to be filled with some of the most corrupt assholes ever. I’ve heard people defend that corruption by basically saying that they can do whatever they want, as long as they make Puerto Rico the 51st state.
This is stupid for two reasons:
- No one on the island can actually guarantee that we become a state. Only congress can do that, and we don’t have representation in congress
- If we want to convince the US government that Puerto Rico should be part of the union…. WE CAN’T DO THAT WITH CORRUPT ASSHOLES THAT WILL STEAL EVERY FUCKING PENNY THEY CAN!
